Admission and Enrolment Policy

1. Purpose

Prior to completing enrolment, prospective students need advice about the training product appropriate to meeting their needs, taking into account the individual's existing skills and competencies and having access to current and accurate information that enables the student to make an informed decision about undertaking training with CIT. All required information is available on the 91国产自拍website.

To provide guidance on the 91国产自拍process of admission and enrolment and on transferring between courses or subjects.  Prior to commencing studies at CIT, a prospective student must meet the eligibility criteria for the field of study (admission) and complete the administrative process, including payment of fees, before enrolment is finalised.


2. Scope

All prospective students and current 91国产自拍students seeking to enrol and/or transfer between courses or subjects.


3. Principles

3.1 91国产自拍is committed to ensuring learners are provided with accurate and comprehensive information to allow informed decisions about their training prior to admission and commencement.

3.2 Enrolment at 91国产自拍is not valid until all administrative and financial processes are completed within the allocated timeframes as required by the 91国产自拍Fees Policy.

Prospective students

3.4 Enrolment at 91国产自拍is available for:

  1. domestic students who are Australian or New Zealand citizens, permanent Australian residents, or holders of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa
  2. non-domestic students on an eligible visa (including diplomatic visas, e.g., embassy staff and their families) or an eligible temporary visa holder, including those on a visa bridging towards a permanent visa can enrol as an eligible non-domestic student. A list of eligible visas (maintained by Skills Canberra) can be found .
  3. 91国产自拍will assess the eligibility of asylum seekers on temporary visas to enrol on a case by case basis. A number of visa types including asylum seekers on Bridging Visas may access 91国产自拍courses as domestic students; however, such prospective students will not be eligible for Australian Government funding.
  4. offshore students studying outside of Australia (only for selected fully online courses)

3.5 ACT Government-subsidised places are subject to availability and are only available to domestic students and eligible non-domestic students, who are resident in either the ACT or surrounding areas of NSW.

3.6 General admission enrolments, including access to government-subsidised places, are not available for international or offshore students.

3.7 All students are required to provide acceptable identification to verify their status as a domestic or international student.

3.8 For an enrolment to be considered valid, the prospective student must:

  1. meet all relevant eligibility requirements detailed on the 91国产自拍website
  2. provide all required relevant documentation within the timeframes provided by CIT
  3. complete the 91国产自拍enrolment process; and
  4. be assessed as meeting the requirements of the 91国产自拍Fees Policy.

3.9 91国产自拍may cancel any outstanding or invalid enrolment at any time if and as required for technical, operational or compliance reasons.

3.10 91国产自拍may, at its discretion, restrict the enrolment methods available to some student cohorts.

3.11 Students under 17 years of age can not apply for a course online. Refer to the Training for People Aged Under 18 Years Policy.

Identification

3.12 All students are required to verify their identity by providing acceptable identification documents to 91国产自拍before the earliest of either:

  1. the due date of their fees; or
  2. the date of their first class.

Unique Student Identifier (USI) number

3.13 In order to enrol at CIT, prospective students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number as required by the Australian Government, unless the person:

  1. is an offshore international student studying outside of Australia; or
  2. has a genuine personal objection to being assigned a student identifier, such as in instances where it would conflict with defence or national security legislation and/or jeopardise the security or safety of defence, border protection, customs, national security or police personnel and has gained approval for an exemption; or
  3. is in a 91国产自拍course which is exempt from requiring the student to have a USI.

Application processes for specific student types

3.14 91国产自拍may offer a streamlined process to assist with enrolment where:

  1. the prospective student is an apprentice whose details are supplied by the ACT Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (refer to Training Initiatives Unit (TIU) Notification of Business (NOB) procedure)
  2. the prospective student is sponsored by their school or college (and meets all course entry requirements). In such cases 91国产自拍may accept the school or college's verification of the applicant's identity and residency status when the enrolment is completed at the school or college or
  3. the prospective student is sponsored by their employer (and meets all course entry requirements).

3.15 Enrolment for Australian Apprentices requires completion of the Training Contract, the language literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment, Recognition of Prior Learning (if applicable), and the Training Plan.

Enrolment Holds

3.16 91国产自拍may place a 'restrictive hold' on a student’s record which will limit the student’s ability to enrol again, continue to study or graduate. A restrictive hold may be placed on a student if:

  1. proof of identity has not been provided
  2. fees are overdue
  3. borrowed resources, including library books are overdue and have not been returned to CIT
  4. the student has not contacted a 91国产自拍staff member where requested or required before continuing study
  5. the restrictive hold is otherwise reasonably required to ensure regulatory or legislative compliance or
  6. the student does not sign a Student Behaviour Agreement if required to do so by CIT, or otherwise engages in conduct which may jeopardise the welfare of other students or staff.

Enrolment changes

3.17 A student is able to change their enrolment:

  1. by requesting the change in writing or
  2. online, as provided for by CIT.

Enrolment transfer

3.18 Student requests to transfer between courses/subjects will be considered on a case by case basis and a request must meet the following conditions:

  1. the application to transfer is made within two weeks of the commencement of classes
  2. a place in the course/subject into which the student wishes to transfer is available and the student meets the training course’s entry requirements and
  3. the student has paid their fees in full (or be fully up to date with any payment plans).

3.19 Upon completion of the course/subject transfer, any student fees paid against the original enrolment will also be transferred, provided that fee requirements are met (including the payment of any fee difference).

Re-enrolment

3.20 Students who wish to re-enrol in a subject that they have already successfully completed require approval from the College Director. Where places are limited, students who have not already successfully completed a subject will have priority over those who have already completed.

International students

3.21 Prospective International students must apply (providing they meet all entry requirements) through 91国产自拍International.

3.22 International students wishing to transfer between Colleges must be referred to 91国产自拍International.

3.23 A list of eligible visas is maintained by the Department of Home Affairs Immigration and citizenship at . A prospective student holding an eligible visa will be eligible to enrol at CIT.

5. Definitions

Admission - Acceptance into a 91国产自拍course of study. Admission may be dependent on meeting the course entry requirements, such as:

  • providing a portfolio
  • meeting pre-requisite or, co-requisite requirements
  • the student type, e.g., domestic, international, apprentice/trainee
  • providing required identification documents
  • having existing qualifications
  • having specific experience
  • meeting age requirements.

Enrolment - acceptance into 91国产自拍subjects and payment completed. To enrol students must have:

  • a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • completed the enrolment process
  • no 91国产自拍holds on their student account
  • provided 100 points of ID
  • organised payment of fees.
